Uranium producer Paladin Energy has confirmed that it is in discussions with a group of nuclear industry parties over a joint venture for its non-producing uranium assets.
Paladin currently operates two mines in Africa: Kayelekera in Malawi and Langer Heinrich in Namibia. It also has interests in potential resources in Australia, Canada and elsewhere in Africa.
The company said that it has received “diverse proposals, reflecting a broader and deeper interest to become part of Paladin’s future production platform.”
Paladin also said that it would be ‘carefully considering all its options to secure optimum value,’ in addition to the JV approach.
“Unlike many other mineral commodities, high quality uranium assets are attracting premium prices in the current environment and the underlying market for these remains strong in the industry,” Paladin said in a statement.
