SG delivered to Hongyanhe

8 September 2010

Shanghai Electric Equipment Corporation has delivered the first steam generator for the Hongyanhe nuclear power plant. China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG), which is building the plant, says it is the first 1000MW nuclear steam generator to be manufactured domestically in China.

Shanghai Electric Equipment Corporation started manufacturing the Hongyanhe SGs in January 2008. Each SG is 21.7m high and weighs 345 tons. Until now, only the USA, France, Japan and South Korea had produced 1000MW steam generators for use in nuclear power plants.

CGNPC says that three steam generators are expected to be installed at the Hongyanhe nuclear power plant by the end of 2010.
