A generator fire at Sweden’s Ringhals 3, thought to be caused by a mislaid tool, has cost plant operators Vattenfall and E.ON several millions of Euros.
It is thought that employees of manufacturer Alstom may have left the tool and a pen in the generator by accident during installation or maintenance. The episode resulted in smoke build-up and the plant fire brigade were called.
Ringhals chief executive Bertil Dihné said the situation was unacceptable.
The unit is expected to be back up to full power in mid October when the broken generator is replaced.
