Unit 1 of the Ningde nuclear power plant in China entered commercial operation on 18 April 2013.

The 1080 MW CPR-1000 reactor was first connected to the grid in December 2012.

Hollysys Automation Technologies, which supplied its HOLLiAS-N Distributed Control System for the plant, said that the system had to pass a series of rigorous tests before Ningde 1 could enter commercial operation.

Hollysys’ joint venture with China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) China Techenergy Co., Ltd. (CTEC), also envisages providing HOLLiAS-N DCS for 14 other Chinese reactors: Hongyanhe 1-4; Ningde 1-4; Fangchenggang 1-2 and Yangjiang 1-4, although no contracts have been signed.
