Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant sustained no damage when the region suffered an earthquake on 17 April. 

According to the seismological centre of Iran, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 hit the border of the provinces of Bushehr and Fars. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that the epicenter of the tremors was located about 60 km northwest of the city of Bushehr.

“All facilities, equipment, and buildings of NPP are in perfect condition, nothing has been damaged and the activities of this power plant have not been disrupted,” the plant press service reported. It noted that the plant, which was built by Rosatom, had been constructed in line with international standards and regulations and is able to withdstand the most severe earthquakes in the country and the region.
