Rosatom and Atomenergoproject have signed a contract for the construction of the 1st and 2nd units of the second Novovoronezh nuclear power plant with the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy and Atomenergoproject.

Atomenergoproject won an open tender and was proclaimed the general contractor of the project, part of the Federal Target Program: “Development of the Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and –2015.”

A total of Rb130 billion ($5 billion) will be budgeted for the project.

The 1st unit will be launched in 2012, the 2nd unit set to follow in 2013.
