The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has urged PWR licensees to review their bobbin coil probe analysis procedures for inspecting steam generator tubes.

The NRC said Comanche Peak 1 did not pick up on several indications of stress corrosion cracking in bobbin analyses conductedwhile investigating the source of a primary-to-secondary leak. NRC said that the flaws were found “fortuitously”, because the operator did a more comprehensive examination.
