An employer has a duty to provide suitable instrumentation for the monitoring of controlled and supervised areas. Selection of appropriate instruments can be an easy task in some circumstances but a difficult one in others. It also includes guidance on surveying techniques, instrument maintenance and ways of determining the nature of potentially complicated radiation fields.
