Canadian uranium exploration company Nuclear Fuels has announced the discovery of two new zones of roll front-hosted uranium mineralisation at the Kaycee Uranium Project.

Located in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin (PRB), Kaycee has all three historically productive sandstone formations, Wasatch, Fort Union, and Lance.

Also, it is potentially accessible for in-situ recovery (ISR) extraction.

The drill testing of regional targets on the project encountered mineralisation at the newly discovered Outpost and Trail Dust Zones.

At the Outpost Zone, drill hole LT24_050 returned 0.082% eU3O8 over 6.5 ft for a total GT of 0.532, starting at a downhole depth of 767ft.

It is said to be the best result in the Kaycee Project’s regional exploration programme.

The roll front trend remains open and will be the primary focus once the drilling resumes.

At the Trail Dust Zone, drill hole LT24_037 returned 0.0553% eU3O8 over 5.5ft for a total hole GT of 0.304, starting at a downhole depth of 886ft.

The Trail Dust Zone is located around 1.5 miles (2.4km) to the north of the Outpost Zone.

The Drill hole LT24_004 was drilled approximately two miles to the southeast of holes LT24_037 and returned 0.029% eU3O8 over 3ft for a total hole GT of 0.086.

According to Nuclear Fuels, the initial geological interpretation suggests the mineralisation intersected in hole LT24_004 may represent the same roll front trend and testing.

The potential ISR-recoverable uranium mineralisation with a GT of greater than 0.20 in the PRB is suitable for inclusion in a potential wellfield.

The company plans for follow-up delineation drilling of these two new zones in May 2025.

Nuclear Fuels CEO Greg Huffman said: “Nuclear Fuels’ drill program was designed to test for new zones of uranium mineralization on the Kaycee Project and we are pleased that the program has discovered two new mineralized roll fronts.

“These discoveries, aided by the team’s deepening understanding of the geology and mineralisation, also highlight the strong potential of this area for further exploration and will serve as a launching point for the 2025 drill program.”

Nuclear Fuels completed the 2024 drill programme at the Kaycee Project in late December 2024, with 206 holes for a total of around 124,720ft since drilling re-started in mid-July.

The company is planning for the 2025 drill programme, which is expected to begin in May 2025, with an initial focus on the discoveries at the Outpost and Trail Dust Zones.
