Concrete for the nuclear island of the Olkiluoto 3 EPR, currently under development in Finland, is to be supplied by French construction group Bouygues following a switch from Finnish subcontractor Forssan Betoni.
The development follows a query over the composition of the concrete which resulted in a delay to the project.
Forssan Betoni will now supply the concrete for the turbine island only after its parent company, Lemminkaeinen, concluded an agreement with developers Areva to reduce the scope of the contract.
Areva’s project director for OLK 3 Philippe Knoche said that the project is still on its revised schedule to hand over the unit at the turn of 2010-2011.
