Russian-Turkish company Titan2 IJ Ichtash Inshaat Anonim Shirketi is building a residential complex for workers near the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey.
The $20bn, four-unit Akkuyu nuclear power plant is being built by Russia's Rosatom under a build-own operate model.
In total, 24 hostels for the working personnel and three hostels for the engineering and technical personnel will be built, Titan-2 said. The total capacity of the residential town will be more than 3200 people. It will include residential premises, retail space, a medical centre, sports grounds and recreational facilities. The town is some 2.5km from the Akkuyu NPP construction site. Currently staff live in the neighbouring village and are transported to work by corporate buses.
“In the autumn of 2019, we started work. We prepared the territory, removed the soil. Today we are ready to start construction and installation work. The construction of foundations, the installation of metal structures is already underway," said Boris Fedotov, chief specialist of the construction department of general station and temporary buildings and structures.
Titan-2 is the main contractor for the construction of the Hanhikivi 1 NPP in Finland and the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and is the general contractor for the construction of new power units at the Leningrad NPP.
