The Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan, USA, is now scheduled to resume service in January, rather than the fourth quarter of 2001, according to Consumers Energy Company, the station’s utility owner. Palisades has been off-line since 20 June to repair cracks in the control rod drive housings. Initially, consumers had expected the unit to resume service at the end of the third quarter or the beginning of the fourth quarter 2001. The cost of the repairs are estimated at $25 to $30 million.
