PSEG Nuclear and design engineering company Sargent & Lundy LLC on 18 April announced they have entered into an alliance agreement for ongoing engineering services for the US Salem and Hope Creek nuclear plants in Lower Alloways Creek, New Jersey.
The agreement calls for a majority of PSEG Nuclear’s modification design work as well other specialty support activities to be assigned to Sargent & Lundy. Sargent & Lundy will also engage in helping define project scopes in their early stages, as well as engage in other related activities such as modification acceptance testing and various other design support activities. The announcement said the partnership will position Sargent & Lundy “to provide innovative solutions to equipment or system issues that may allow for more cost effective approaches that reduce future design changes and therefore costs”.
PSEG Nuclear Vice President of Engineering Paul Davison said the agreement “will better focus our engineering staff to focus on our core work of maintaining the design bases of Salem and Hope Creek while supporting our goal of safe and event free operation”.
