Perma-Fix Environmental Services has been awarded a $6.7 million contract by Kaiser-Hill Company for the transportation and treatment of aqueous wastes generated at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology site in Golden, Colorado.
The contract is to start immediately and is projected to continue through to 2005. It is the first for Perma-Fix’s new water treatment process for aqueous mixed waste.
Kaiser Hill is the management and integration contractor operating Rocky Flats, once a significant portion of the DoE’s nuclear weapon production complex. The DoE awarded Kaiser Hill a closure contract in January 2000, to cleanup and close the facility by December 2006, for nearly $4 billion. It includes nuclear material management, decommissioning, waste management, environmental cleanup and site closure.
