The planned MOX plant will be built adjacent to the Rokkashomura reprocessing plant now under construction. JNFL plans to move its head office to Rokkasho and aims to have the MOX plant operational between 2008 and 2009.

Japan Nuclear Fuel (JNFL) plans to make a request to the Aomori prefecture and village governments for permission to build a MOX fuel plant in Rokkasho.
