V/O Izotop JSC (part of Rosatom’s Health Technologies division) has delivered the first batch of germanium-68/gallium-68 (Ge-68/Ga-68) generators produced by ZAO Cyclotron in Obninsk under a new contract with an Indian local distributor of medical products, Esente Healthcare. V/O Izotop will supply 40 Ge-68/Ga-68 generators to India during the year. Earlier, a registration certificate was obtained from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation of India for the commercialisation of Ge-68/Ga-68 generators by a Russian manufacturer.

The Ga-68 isotope is used in nuclear medicine to diagnose a wide range of oncological diseases using PET scanners and facilitates more than 100,000 diagnostic procedures worldwide each year.

“The supply of germanium-68/gallium-68 generators under a contract with the distributor Esente Healthcare opens up new opportunities for expanding the presence of Rosatom in the Indian nuclear medicine market, and will also ensure the growth of trade in isotope products between our countries,” said Anton Shargin, Deputy Director General of V/O Izotop for Commercial Affairs.

The Health Technologies division brings together relevant expertise in the field of healthcare based on Rosatom’s enterprises and institutes with the aim of comprehensive development of medical technologies in Russia and abroad. It has four main areas: integrated solutions for medicine; production and supply of isotope products; equipment for diagnostics and therapy; and solutions for ionising processing of products. V/O Izotop is the official supplier of the products from Rosatom’s isotope complex to the international and domestic markets. Its partners include 170 foreign companies in 50 countries, and about 600 organisations in Russia.
