On 12 December, Slovenské elektrárne announced that the reactor pressure vessel had been installed at unit 4 of the Mochovce nuclear power plant in Slovakia, on schedule. The company also said that construction of Mochovce 3 & 4 would be finished at the end of 2012 and 2013, respectively

Paolo Ruzzini, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Slovenske elektrarne: “The successful installation of the second pressure vessel, the biggest component in the Mochovce 3&4 site, confirms that we are on track in fulfilling our commitments despite the challenging economic environment.”

Completion of the third and fourth unit in Mochovce is the largest private investment in the history of Slovakia, SE said in a statement. Following completion, the plant will meet 45% of the country’s electricity consumption.

Slovenské elektrárne, a subsidiary of Enel, said that it had assigned contracts worth almost EUR 2.63 billion or 94% of the total project investment by 30 November 2011. Approximately 78% of these contracts were signed with Slovak and Czech companies.

All four reactor pressure vessels for Mochovce were supplied by the Czech Skoda JS Plzen. In September 2010 the 250-ton reactor pressure vessel was installed at Mochovce 3.
