Russia and the European Union (EU) have opened talks on an increase in uranium shipments to the EU, the head of Russia’s federal energy agency has admitted.

Alexander Rumyantsev told the Interfax news agency: “Talks are already underway,” adding that Russia could boost its deliveries without affecting domestic supplies. The country uses 5500-6000t of uranium annually in its nuclear power stations.
