Special security measures are in place at the Kozloduy NPP in Bulgaria due to the possibility of NATO using Bulgaria’s air space during the conflict with Serbia. Closing two of the older 440 MWe reactors at the site was also being considered.

Kozloduy is located on the Danube 100 km from the Serbian border, but a deliberate attack on the station is thought to be unlikely. Floating barriers have been placed in the Danube to prevent oil slicks or other debris entering the station’s cooling system.
