Shares in Sellafield Ltd have been transferred to Nuclear Management Partners (NMP) – the consortium of URS Washington Division, Amec and Areva that was chosen as the new Parent Body Organisation (PBO) for the Sellafield Site Licence Company.

For the next five years NMP will be responsible for the management and operations of the Sellafield nuclear complex. The contract will be worth £1.3 billion ($2 billion) in its first year and approximately £22 billion ($33.6 billion) over its potential 17-year lifetime.

During the two-year selection process NMP faced competition for the contract from CH2MHill, Fluor in partnership with Toshiba, and SBB Nuclear (Serco, Bechtel and Babcock & Wilcox).
