Rusatom Service, part of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, has signed a contract with Czech company Skoda JS to supply equipment to the Armenian NPP, which is undergoing life extension work with Russia’s assistance.
Skoda will deliver a set of CPS equipment (a security management system). Rusatom Service Director General Evgeniy Salkov noted that the contract is very important for the company and is a continuation of the fruitful nuclear cooperation between Russia and the Czech Republic. Rusatom Service and Skoda JS also signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in repairing welding joints in steam generator vessels for VVER-440 units. The aim is to develop cooperation between the two companies and identify specific projects for collaboration.
Rusatom Service provides services and equipment for VVERs built outside Russia where it has a portfolio of orders worth about $500m. Škoda JS is part of the Russia-based OMZ Group and has supplied engineering services, equipment and services for NPPs, research reactors and used nuclear fuel depots in Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, France, Germany, USA and the Far East. To date, the company has manufactured and supplied 21 sets of equipment for VVER-440 reactors and three sets for VVER-1000 reactors.
