This week the Swedish government is expected to make a decision on whether to increase taxation on nuclear energy.

According to Svensk Energi, the decision to approve the new budget is due on 16 December. If approved, the nuclear power tax for 2006 will increase by 85%, lifting state revenues from the tax by SKr 1.39 billion ($170 million) to around SKr 3 billion ($350 million) and slashing windfall profits made by carbon-free power producers.
