A Ukrainian Energy Ministry delegation has confirmed the country’s interest in joining the International Uranium Enrichment Centre during recent Russian-Ukrainian consultations in Angarsk at the Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Complex, a manufacturer of low-enriched uranium.

The move follows an agreement by the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko during a recent visit to Ukraine. Together with Kazakhstan the parties decided to meet in the coming months to discuss all necessary procedures for Ukraine’s involvement in the international uranium enrichment centre north of Irkutsk in south eastern Siberia.
