Ukraine (Donetsk)-based Energomashspetsstal (EMSS – part of Rosatom’s, mechanical engineering division Atomenergomash) has completed the manufacture of blanks for the reactor equipment of the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey, EMSS reported on 3 August. The work is carried out under the constant supervision of the customer's representatives. From 26 to 30 July 2, an acceptance inspection of the latest batch of products took place at EMSS. The inspectors of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Agency (ANR), France’s Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) and Bureau Veritas (France) took part in the acceptance.

Six blanks for the main circulation pipeline (MCP) for Akkuyu 3 were delivered to the customer. The blanks had passed a multi-stage quality check by specialists from the central plant laboratory, the technical control department of  EMSS  and representatives of the customer, including specialists from ANR. The inspectors then carried out visual and measuring control of the blanks, monitored the process of their conservation, and checked the reporting documentation in the process of manufacturing and control. As a result, the products were accepted by the commission without any comments and the products were prepared for shipment to the customer.

In 2020 EMSS passed an audit by  ANR, which renewed the certificate of the manufacturer of blanks for the equipment of the Akkuyu NPP (Turkey) for a period of five years – until January 2026.

The Akkuyu NPP is being built in Turkey on the Mediterranean coast in the Mersin province by Rosatom. The project provides for the construction of four units with VVER-1200 reactors.
