Following completion of a six-day demonstration operating period, Mochovce 1 has been handed over by Czech vendors Skoda to the national power company, Slovenska Elektrdirne (SE). The new plant was connected to the power grid in July but completion of the uninterrupted demonstration run marks the successful commissioning of Mochovce 1. The Slovak nuclear regulatory authority is carrying out final inspections before issuing a licence for the start of trial operation, which will last some 10 months. The second unit at the site is due to be commissioned next year.
