Deputy prime minister Pham Gia Khiem on 25 April expressed his hope that the Japan Atomic Industry Forum (JAIF) will help establish an atomic power plant in Vietnam in the near future.
The nation highly appreciates the technical expertise offered by the forum over the last two years, he said while receiving in Hanoi a JAIF delegation led by its deputy chairman, Isutomu Kanai.
Khiem expressed hope that JAIF would enhance its support for Vietnam’s industrialisation and modernisation process.
Isutomu Kanai expressed pleasure at the successful completion of Vietnam Communist Party’s Ninth National Congress where the nation’s atomic energy prospects were given proper consideration.
Kanai briefed Khiem about the work that the delegation had done so far with its Vietnamese partners during this visit.
He said apart from participating in an exhibition on peaceful applications of atomic energy, the delegation wished to explore ways help develop the atomic energy industry in Vietnam.
