Specialists from Russia’s JSC Atomenergoremont (a subsidiary of Rosenergoatom Concern, part of Rosatom state nuclear corporation) have begun work to extend the life of the Armenian nuclear power plant (unit 2), the company announced on 8 June.
Currently, 240 specialists from the branches of JSC Atomenergoremont, including Smolenskatomenergoremont, are working at the site. Mikhail Okulsky, director of Smolenskatomenergoremont, said specialists of the Smolensk branch are highly qualified and have many years of experience in servicing nuclear plants.
In 2017 work was carried out to assess the technical condition and justify the residual life of the equipment and some repairs were carried out during the routine outage of the unit that year.
JSC Atomenergoremont is the leading repair organisation for Russia’s nuclear power industry and general contractor for maintenance and repair of equipment at nuclear plants and other industrial and energy enterprises. The company undertakes more than 70% of repair work at Rosenergoatom’s nuclear facilities.
