Two workers have been exposed to low-level radioactive water after a pipe ruptured during a test of the third PWR unit of Mihama nuclear power plant in Fukui prefecture.
The Mihama reactor, operated by Kansai Electric Power, has been off line for the past year after a pipe rupture in a steam line killed five people. In the latest incident about 15 litres of water leaked from the pipe, some of which sprayed over the faces and the necks of the workers.
Kansai said the workers were doused with minimally radioactive coolant, were unhurt and were not exposed to radioactivity because the water was immediately washed away.
