Radics LLC has a short but impressive history. The company was established in 2012 as an innovative spinoff of RPC Radiy, a leading designer of advanced I&C solutions for nuclear power plants in the Ukraine. The goal was to bring new I&C solutions and modernization experiences to the world nuclear market.
In 2015, Radics LLC began working with Global Quality Assurance in order to fully align the Quality Assurance Program (QAP), implementing procedures, working instructions and training with the requirements of ASME NQA-1-1994, ASME NQA-1-2008, and NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, "Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications", Parts I and II, with specific reference to selected Part III sections Regulatory Guide 1.28, Revision 4 (2010) Quality Assurance Programme Criteria (Design and Construction). As a result, company's QAP is a hybrid programme with NQA-2008, 2009a, and ISO 9001:2015 requirements incorporated. This QAP assigns major functional responsibilities for activities and key processes related to the design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, inspection, modification, shipment, and other related product realisation activities for I&C systems and components.
Radics LLC develops advanced I&C solutions based on the innovative, highly-reliable RadICS platform. RadICS I&C Platform was developed specifically for use in nuclear power plants. The RadICS Platform is robust, flexible, and scalable. It delivers state-of-the-art functions, services, and safeguards for both safety and non-safety applications in the nuclear industry. The RadICS Platform components are designed to the latest IEC standards for safety-critical service in the highest classified nuclear systems. The RadICS Platform consists of a Logic Module, basic input/output modules, and specialty modules all housed in a seismically qualified chassis. In 2014, the RadICS I&C Platform was certified by exida as SIL 3 Capable in a single channel per the requirements of the IEC 61508:2010 Certification Process. In 2016, Radiy submitted the RadICS I&C Platform Topical Report to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval. The RadICS field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based digital Instrumentation and Control (I&C) platform was approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Safety Evaluation Report (SER) for RadICS Platform was issued on July 31, 2019.
RadICS platform-based applications developed under NQA-1 compliant QAP can be used for digital safety and control systems for nuclear power plants, both new builds and modernization projects, as well as other process industries with high level safety requirements.
RadICS platform-based applications have architecture flexibility and scalability.
Radics LLC introduces modern approach for safety control covering the whole technology – from sensors to actuators. Among those are the following: ESFAS, Conventional Island I&C System, Nuclear Island I&C System, Reactor Trip System.
Radics LLC also offers advanced FPGA-based non-safety systems for modernization and new build projects. These non-safety FPGA-based systems are developed on the innovative highly reliable platform RadICom, which is based on key design principles inherited from RadICS platform. The RadICom platform has been installed applied in several NPPs as modernization of I&C systems of class B and C.
The Radics LLC team has abundant experience in testing FPGA/CPLD electronic projects of any complexity (Hardware Description Languages (HDL), such as VHDL). Additionally, it has expertise in fully automated functional testing of FPGA-based I&C solutions, qualification testing (EMC, environmental, seismic, etc) of FPGA-based I&C solutions in accordance with national and international requirements (EPRI 107330), and commercial grade dedication in accordance with US NRC requirements (EPRI 106439). Radics LLC provides support to clients including training of operators and maintenance staff. The company guarantees short-term installation and commissioning, and long-term maintenance support.
