Pöyry has acquired 97.8% of the shares of ETV-Eröterv, the largest privately owned power engineering consultancy firm in Hungary, enhancing its capability in the nuclear sector. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.

ETV offers conventional power plant engineering, services for radioactive waste related projects as well as in the design services in the transmission and distribution sector. The company, which employs 170 people, had net sales of some EUR12 million ($14.8 million) in 2009.

“Pöyry’s existing nuclear consulting engineering network will be enhanced with ETV’s profound knowledge of the Russian nuclear power plant technology,” said Ari Asikainen, President, Energy business group, Pöyry.

Together, ETV and Pöyry will have a staff of 400 providing consultancy and engineering services.
